The story behind the site
Two years before the pandemic, I was quarantined for a month due to acanthamoeba keratitis. During that time, I felt incredibly lonely and anxious, so it meant the world to me whenever I received a get-well-soon card. There is something so powerful in receiving a physical note in a time of need—it shows that you’re not alone.
The card that struck me the most, however, was not from my friends or family, but from a girl my age who I didn’t even know. The fact that a stranger was thinking of me in my most difficult time was so unusually kind that it left a deep imprint even years later.
Hence, I was inspired to create Notes for Support to show patients and healthcare workers that there are people out there who care.
The person behind the story
Hi! 👋 I'm Gina, a high school student from Northern California. When I’m not in school or fulfilling the thousands of wonderful notes that have come through our site, you can find me working on side projects, jogging on the Guadalupe River Trail, and reading magazines. I am a sister, a daughter, and a friend. Thank you for visiting my site and supporting those on the frontlines! 😊
